NSS @ REC
Helping students expand out of intellectual luxury and inspired from the thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi of involving students in service activities, Raghu Engineering College has been associated with NSS from 2009. Since its inception with a team of 1 Program Officer and 50 Student Volunteers the unit has been actively rendering services in coordination with JNTUK NSS Cell and has grown to the size of 3 units with each unit constituting of 1 Program Officer and 100 student volunteers adding up to 300 Student Volunteers. Of the 3 units of NSS, one is funded by JNTUK NSS Cell and the rest 2 are self-financed by Raghu Engineering College. The cardinal principle of the programme is that it is organized by the students themselves and because of their active participation in social service they get a sense of involvement in the tasks of national development. This has been helping our students identify social problems and developing a sense of civic responsibility.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the student youth of 11th & 12th Class of schools at +2 Board level and student youth of Technical Institution, Graduate & Post Graduate at colleges and University level of India to take part in various government led community service activities & programmes. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service. Since inception of the NSS in the year 1969, the number of students strength increased from 40,000 to over 3.8 million up to the end of March 2018 students in various universities, colleges and Institutions of higher learning have volunteered to take part in various community service programmes.

Outreach Programs by REC- NSS & UBA
Why the need to start or join an outreach program?
Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) @REC
Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is inspired by the vision of transformational change in rural development processes by leveraging knowledge institutions to help build the architecture of an Inclusive India.
Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) is a flagship national programme of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, envisioning the transformational change in rural development processes by leveraging knowledge institutions to help build the architecture of an Inclusive India
NSS Units of Raghu Engineering College(A) initiated UBA Activities in the community as per the guidelines and norms by the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA).
Promoting development of rural areas in the villages adopted like Dakamarri, Bodamettlapalem, B.R. Talavalasa, Amanam and Korada, Raghu Engineering College is tied up with UBA activities which are in tune with the Gandhian vision of self-sufficient ‘village republics’, based on local resources and using decentralized, eco-friendly technologies so that the basic needs of food, clothing, shelter, sanitation, health care, energy, livelihood, transportation, and education are locally met. This has been our vision at Raghu Engineering College towards the holistic development of villages.
